Having The Right Posture

Having the correct posture in racing and riding is crucial for both the horse and rider. Posture is what can seem to lift the edge for most racers and by using it to ones edge can the winning odds be won slightly.

For riders or race horse jockeys, a good racing posture helps to induce a relaxed body stance that can actually make the horse feel as if there is no added weight ion their bodies. When the horse feels more at ease with the weight, the more that they can ride faster.

The correct form of good body posture is a combination of breathing, balance and being aware of how ones body is positioned on the horse.

Getting into a good posture position is not that hard. Although being in peak physical shape is well and good it is the actual posture itself. A weak body can have some posture but it would be difficult and painful to adapt it.

Most experts recommend the posture used by professional bikers as the key element in good posture for bikers have been able to hold their pose for quite some time and they are known for being able to endure the poses until for several hours.

Yoga, Pilates and other forms of physical calisthenics can assist one in improving the suppleness or flexibility of ones body on the saddle.

Probably the first thing that one has to think about would be the balance that is linked to all movements done. When one does not have balance then one could very well fall f the saddle and hurt themselves in th race. Having poor balance may also affect the horse and ts balance. There have been cases wherein riders have fallen off their horses in sharp turns in the racetrack.

Upper body strength is crucial here of tit is here that most of the hand and arms muscles are used. The upper body can provide a stable balance nexus when riders are on the horse for they are the free limbs that can grasp and pull to different areas.

Strong legs and thighs come next. This does not mean that the rider has to squeeze the horse but by keeping a firm locked on ones legs can the rider maintain balance on the horse and support the upper body muscles.

Riders who slouch are the ones susceptible to having poor posture because the abdominals take much punishment when the body is curled up in a near fetal manner in the race. If the rider has poor muscles then the legs would easily buckle up and the balance would be lost.

For this, crunches or sit ups would help do the trick. One does not need to exercise or strength every muscle but should be able to give the body good muscles TONE. This means that the muscle is prepared to accept punishment and has sufficiently warmed up for it.

Having a good posture while racing on and off the track isn't hard but requires some careful consideration and effort into it. Only by having the right posture can horse and rider do well.
